The Victims
Emerging from the Perth punk scene in 1977, The Victims were a short lived and lost Australian band. Television Addict is 3 minutes of trashy, thrashy guitar and primitive, pounding drums, celebrating the stimulation and alienation brought on by overdosing on a drug which is arguably one of the worlds most freely available.
Members of The Victims would go on to help shape the independent Australian music scene of the 1980’s playing in bands including The Hoodoo Gurus, The Scientists and The Beasts of Bourbon. The Hoodoo Gurus contained two members of The Victims, singer/songwriter Dave Faulkner and drummer James Baker (who played on the first album at least) and they even released their own version of Television Addict as a B-side.
The Hoodoo Gurus formed in 1981 and split in 1997 but reformed again in 2003, releasing a new album "Mach Schau" in 2004 and touring on the 2004 Big Day Out festival. Get more information on The Hoodoo Gurus and buy their stuff @ http://www.hoodoogurus.net/
